International Anti-Corruption Day: the ULCC mobilizes youth, Saint-Cyr calls for responsibility

Pétion-Ville, December 9, 2025.- On the occasion of the International Anti-Corruption Day, under the theme « Uniting young people against corruption: shaping the integrity of tomorrow »The Anti-Corruption Unit (ULCC) met on Tuesday 9 December at the Karibe Hotel, State institutions, international partners and youth associations. The President of the Transition Presidential Council, Laurent Saint-Cyr, was present to support the initiatives of the ULCC, while Hans Jacques Ludwig Joseph and Alfred Fils Métellus stressed the importance of justice and citizen collaboration to promote transparency and integrity in Haiti.

In his speech, President Saint-Cyr stressed the importance of good management of public property to restore confidence and protect the future of young people and children. « Corruption is a major threat that affects the functioning of all sectors. No development or elections without integrity », he said. He praised the courage of the ULCC and appealed to all segments of society and to justice to take responsibility for ending impunity.

In the continuation of this call for general mobilization, the Director General of the ULCC, Hans Jacques Ludwig Joseph, recalled that « corruption is a danger to society, an enemy of the nation and our ancestors »stressing that the role of justice is essential for anti-corruption actions to bear fruit. The Minister of Economy and Finance, Alfred Fils Métellus, invited the population to work together to « leaving a better country to future generations ».

Among the initiatives presented, the ULCC unveiled an anti-corruption guide for young people and produced in Braille, organized the 4th edition of the Transparency and Integrity Fair, and moderated a debate on the publication of heritage statements by senior politicians. The first winner of the music competition organized by the United Nations Office against Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the ULCC was attended, and a guided tour of the exhibitions highlighted the projects carried out by the institution and its partners.

The active participation of the President of the CPT, Laurent Saint-Cyr, and the involvement of all the actors present confirm the determination of the CPT and the ULCC to promote transparency, accountability and citizen engagement. By mobilizing and supporting youth, the country is moving towards a more inclusive society capable of effectively combating corruption and impunity.
