Port-au-Prince, April 30, 2026.- From April 30 to May 6, 2026, the Embassy of Mexico in Haiti is organizing the 2nd edition of Mexican Gastronomy Week, in partnership with several restaurants in the capital. Placed under the theme « 7 Mexican cities: a gastronomic and tourist route »The event will highlight Mexico's culinary richness through menus inspired by the host cities of the 2026 World Cup.

For a week, the Haitian capital will vibrate to the rhythm of Mexican flavors. Seven restaurants will each host an iconic Mexican city, offering visitors a unique culinary immersion. From Guadalajara to Cancún, via Puebla or Mexico City, each stage of the course will highlight local specialities, reflecting a rich cuisine of history and blending.

Guest on Radio Magik 9 on April 29, Ambassador Jesús Cisneros stressed that Mexican cuisine tells the history of the country: a mixture of indigenous heritage and Spanish influences. Ingredients such as corn, pepper or tomato, from pre-Hispanic civilizations, coexist with European inputs such as pork or chicken, creating a unique culinary identity recognized by UNESCO.

Beyond the gastronomic experience, the event is also intended as a cultural bridge between Haiti and Mexico. Like the juumou soup in Haiti or the chile in nogada in Mexico, each dish has a historical and social dimension. This week aims to enhance traditions, encourage exchanges and promote a cuisine deeply rooted in the life and identity of peoples.

Twelve other establishments will also participate in this celebration by offering creations inspired by Mexico, confirming the growing craze for this gastronomy that is both popular and refined.

With this initiative, Haiti becomes, during a week, a showcase of Mexican flavours, between tradition, innovation and cultural dialogue.
