Port-au-Prince, March 27, 2026.- Wanted since 2019, Zimbabwean Vundla Sikhumbuzo was arrested in Petion-Ville, Thursday, March 26, by specialized units of the National Police of Haiti (PNH). Involved in the scandal of arms trafficking linked to the Episcopal Church of Haiti, he is also prosecuted for attempted murder, association of criminals and sequestration of his minor children.

The arrest of Vundla Sikhumbuzo marks a significant step forward in a sensitive criminal case that had deeply shocked public opinion. Actively sought for several years, this former official linked to the Episcopal Church of Haiti was finally arrested on 26 March 2026 during an operation led by the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ), supported by the Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI) and the Brigade de Protection des Mineurs (BPM).

According to information provided by the HNP, the individual was the subject of an arrest warrant issued by the investigating judge Noé Pierre-Louis Massillon. He is accused of having played a role in a network of illicit trafficking in firearms, as part of the scandal involving the Episcopal Church, but also of having tried to assassinate his wife and participated in organized criminal activities.

Beyond these charges, the file highlights particularly serious facts related to the family sphere. The authorities reveal that Vundla Sikhumbuzo had detained her three minor children, denying them access to education since 2019, an element that reinforces the seriousness of the charges against him.

This rebound came in the wake of the spectacular seizure carried out in July 2022 in Caribbean Port Services, in La Saline, where a large shipment of weapons and ammunition including assault rifles, pistols and thousands of cartridges had been discovered under cover of the franchise of the Episcopal Church of Haiti. This case led to the issuance of several research notices targeting individuals related to this institution.

Now in the hands of the judiciary, the suspect will be held accountable for all the charges against him. For its part, the Haitian National Police reaffirms its determination to pursue continuously the actors involved in criminal networks, in a context marked by serious security concerns.
