School entrance: new traffic measures in application to Gonaïves

Gonaïves, October 2, 2025.- On the occasion of the school year, the Departmental Directorate of Artibonite of the National Police of Haiti (DDA/PNH) has put in place several measures to secure traffic and protect students.

Heavy goods vehicles are now prohibited in the city centre at peak hours (6am-9am and 3pm-6pm) and must pass the national road #9. Taxi motorbike drivers can no longer use noisy speakers under penalty of fines and seizure.

Strict vehicle paper checks are planned, and the HNP requires repair of defective headlights and removal of dazzling lights. Citizens are urged not to obstruct roads with building materials. The wild donkey back installation remains prohibited.

The Police call for the vigilance of parents and the support of the town hall and MTPTC to ensure road safety in schools.
