Carlo Marcelin
Port-au-Prince, May 6, 2026.- A few weeks from the publication of the final list for the Women's World Cup, the Haitian Football Federation (FHF) is refining its preparation. Guest of the Magik Panel on Wednesday, May 6, the technical mission manager and delegate attached to the General Secretariat, Carlo Marcelin announced two high-level friendly matches in Miami against New Zealand and Peru, while evoking the imminent arrival of new reinforcements and an expected mobilization of the Haitian diaspora.
The Haitian selection will soon play two friendly meetings in Miami as part of its final preparation. According to Carlo Marcelin, these posters were chosen with a clear sporting logic.
New Zealand, accustomed to major international competitions, is a physically strong and experienced opponent. Peru, which ranks better, is also an interesting test for measuring the level of Grenadières before the global deadline.
For the leaders, these oppositions will allow to confront Haiti with various game styles and adjust the latest tactical settings.
Miami, strategic choice and Haitian atmosphere guaranteed
Miami's choice is not random. Carlo Marcelin explains that this location aims first of all to limit the movements of players operating in Europe, while many are coming out of a long season.
But the stake is also symbolic and popular: to recreate a Haitian atmosphere strong in American land.
« Failing to play in Haiti, we must evolve in a totally Haitian atmosphere »he insisted, relying on the strong presence of the diaspora in Florida, including Miami, Orlando and Georgia.
The FHF hopes to transform these meetings into real demonstrations of national support around the team.
New players expected
Carlo Marcelin also confirmed that the next list, expected next week, should incorporate two to three new elements.
Without revealing identities, he said that advanced discussions have been underway with several targeted players for several years.
These reinforcements could reinforce some key sectors before the competition, while this next convocation will be almost the last before the final list of the World Championship.
General engagement before the World
Beyond the field, the FHF wants to make these matches a national gathering moment.
Carlo Marcelin calls on Haitians living in the United States to mobilize massively to support the selection.
According to him, these meetings go beyond the mere sporting framework: they also constitute a cultural and patriotic showcase for Haiti internationally.
While the official preparation should really start around 25 May, when the players will be available after their respective seasons, the Federation wants to take advantage of this window to strengthen the group's cohesion and to become more familiar with the team.
Heading to the last straight line
As the World Cup approaches, Haitian selection is entering a decisive phase. Between strategic preparation, new reinforcements and mobilization of the diaspora, the Federation intends to put every chance on its side to succeed its global appointment.
The two Miami games now appear as a life-size test before the big jump.
