Andre "Dadou" Pasquet
Port-au-Prince, November 26, 2025.- Invited to the show Panel Magik, the Martinique artist Nestor Azerot delivered an upsetting testimony on his 45 years of collaboration and friendship with Haitian guitarist Dadou Pasquet. He mentioned a relationship « merger » and the legacy of a musician whose work, according to him, must be preserved. For her part, Marguerite "Magguie" Rigaud, former manager of Magnum Band, called for more honoring the memory of a man whom she described as « respectful, cultivated and deeply discreet ».
The emotion was palpable on the set. Author-songwriter and historical member of Magnum Band, Nestor Azerot has returned with intensity to this fraternal bond that has marked his entire career. « Dadou and I were like skin and shirt. », he said, stressing the exceptional talent and humanity of the missing musician. « He inspired a lot of guitarists... He received, during his lifetime, many testimonies of admiration », he added.
The artist from Martinique also spoke with emotion about the last exchange between them: « We spent 45 years as brothers... until last Tuesday, when he called me to say goodbye. » Referring to the artistic heritage of Dadou Pasquet, Azerot believes that his music speaks of itself: « We don't need to dig meninges. His works must be preserved and transmitted. »
He confirmed that Magnum Band will continue to interpret his leader's repertoire in accordance with his latest wishes.
Present on the stage, Marguerite "Magguie" Rigaud delivered an equally moving portrait of the guitarist.
« He was a respectful man, of great heart, responsible, cultivated and, despite an immense career, of great shyness. », she recalled.
However, she regretted the lack of recognition he received in Haiti: « Dadou was not honored at his fair value in his country, when he was deeply loved in the West Indies. »
Dadou Pasquet leaves behind him a major musical heritage and the memory of a generous artist, whose influence extends far beyond Haitian borders.
