Port-au-Prince, November 26, 2025.- Professor Mathias Loreus believes that if the United States actually had evidence linking presidential adviser Fritz Alphonse Jean to armed gangs, this would cause a major change in national political dynamics. In the absence of such elements, it is, in his view, accusations that still need to be clarified. He expressed himself in this direction during his intervention on Magik 9.
Guest of the show Panel Magik This Wednesday, Mathias Loreus expressed surprise at these allegations attributed to the US authorities, stressing that only tangible evidence can justify a challenge of such magnitude. « For now, these are accusations that need to be clarified. », he said.
He also denounced the laxity of Haitian justice vis-à-vis those sanctioned by the international community. According to him, the lack of judicial and institutional follow-up further weakens the state and causes confusion around sensitive cases.
Openly critining presidential advisers, he criticized Fritz Jean for having waited for himself to be targeted by sanctions or accusations in order to reveal certain information about diplomats accredited in Haiti and government authorities, an attitude which he considers incompatible with public responsibility.
Finally, Mathias Loreus calls for a reorientation of political priorities in favour of the national interest. He believes that foreign interference is often a source of internal action. « Haitian political actors pay large sums for consultations with international leaders », he said.
For the professor, it is urgent to break with this external political dependence and to place Haiti at the centre of his own decisions.
