Ottawa, July 25, 2025.- Joverlein Moïse, eldest son of former Haitian President Jovenel Moïse, calls for justice to crack down on Me André Michel, whom he accuses of inciting publicly to violence against his father before his assassination in July 2021. In the midst of a national and international media tour, he calls for sanctions against all perpetrators, co-authors and accomplices of the crime and demands that they seek forgiveness from the Haitian people. More than 50 persons were arrested as part of the investigation.
While the investigation into the heinous assassination of President Jovenel Moses is still trampling, his son, Joverlein Moïse, revives the public debate by demanding that justice be done. In his recent statements during a media tour he has been conducting for several days, he directly challenged the lawyer and politician, Me André Michel. According to him, he said that he had made a statement inciting physical violence against his father while he was still head of state.
« These words cannot be detached from the crime committed against President Jovenel Moïse »Joverlein Moïse said, pointing to a disturbing coincidence between Me Michel's statements and the assassination on the night of July 6-7, 2021, in Pilgrim 5, Petion-Ville commune.
In a direct appeal to the Haitian justice, he urges the authorities to prosecute not only Mr. André Michel, but also all those who have played a role in this assassination. « They must not only answer for their actions, but also apologize to the Haitian people. »He insisted.
The case of the assassination of Jovenel Moïse remains to date one of the most complex and sensitive issues in Haiti's recent history. More than 30 people were arrested as part of the investigation, including Colombian mercenaries, Haitian and American citizens, as well as several members of the security forces. Despite these arrests, many shadow zones persist, and the alleged sponsors have still not been clearly identified or tried.
The media release of Joverlein Moïse could thus revive popular and political pressure to move the judicial process forward.
