Port-au-Prince, 25 July 2025.- As part of the official launch of the project of psychosocial support and social reintegration of adolescent witnesses and/or victims of violence, the Town Hall of Port-au-Prince, in partnership with Solidarite Fanm Ayisyèn (SOFA), intends to offer structured support as well as concrete opportunities to reintegrate young people exposed to violence related to insecurity in the metropolitan area.

According to an official statement issued this Friday, this is an urgent response to an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, which particularly affects children and adolescents.

« The security situation in the commune of Port-au-Prince is critical. Our children are the first victims of this violence. It is our moral and institutional responsibility to act immediately and in a coordinated manner. », said Allwitch Joly, Chief of Staff of the President of the Municipal Commission, Ralph Youri Chevry.

The Town Hall, in collaboration with the Institute of Social Welfare and Research (IBESR), has set up an Inter-institutional Monitoring and Coordination Committee to monitor actions, collect data, guide strategies and produce evaluation reports.

« We need a sustainable, ethical and inclusive system to protect our children. This committee will operate according to the principles of collegiality, accountability, confidentiality and non-discrimination », stressed Allwitch Joly.

The City Council welcomed the SOFA initiative and the commitment of institutional and financial partners, while calling for collective mobilization around this vital cause. The Chief of Staff concluded by stressing the urgent need to act to provide these young people with a dignified future and to see them as actors of change.
