Official tribute to Jovenel Moïse: the CPT facing the disputed legacy

Port-au-Prince, July 7, 2025.- On the occasion of the 4th anniversary of the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse, the Transitional Presidential Council (CPT) held a commemorative mass on Monday, July 7. The CPT took advantage of this symbolic date to express its sympathy to the family of the deceased and the Haitian people, while reaffirming its commitment to work for peace, love and stability in the country.

In his homily of circumstance, Reverend Father John Robert Louis presented Jovenel Moïse as a pious man, deeply engaged in the service of the Nation. He prayed for the rest of his soul, recalling the tragic circumstances of his assassination, which occurred on the night of July 6-7, 2021, in his private residence in Pilgrim 5, Petion-Ville commune.

At the same time, today, Martine Moïse, widow of the former president, reaffirmed her determination to obtain justice for her husband. However, according to Pierre Espérance, Executive Director of the National Network for the Defense of Human Rights (RNDDH), his refusal to appear before the Court of Appeal of Port-au-Prince constitutes an obstacle to the proper conduct of the investigation.
