Washington, 24 September 2025.- Dominican President Luis Abinader said, on Wednesday, September 24, he had spoken with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio about regional security issues and the situation in Haiti. At the end of the meeting, the two leaders agreed on the importance of increased international support to meet current challenges.
In a message published on X, Luis Abinader said that discussions also focused on preparations for the next Summit of the Americas, which the Dominican Republic will host.
« It is an honour to continue to consolidate friendship and cooperation with the United States », he wrote.
This position comes at a time when the Caribbean region remains marked by serious security concerns, particularly because of the continuing crisis in Haiti and its impact on regional stability.
