Port-au-Prince, October 6, 2025.- In an interview granted on Monday, on radio Magik 9, the agronomist Wonder Dorsainvil alerted about a possible fusion between the "Taliban" gangs of Canaan, "400 Mawozo" of Croix-des-Bouquets and "Gran Grif" operating in Artibonite. This alliance would aim to link the departments of West and Artibonite, accentuating the already explosive security crisis in the region.
The security situation in the municipality of Verrettes is becoming increasingly worrying. According to the agronomist Wonder Dorsainvil, the "Taliban" gangs of Canaan and "400 Mawozo" gangs of Croix-des-Bouquets are now expanding their influence on several strategic areas, including Deschapelles and Désarmes, located in the lower Artibonite valley.
At the same time, the "Gran Grif" gang consolidates its control over Liancourt, where it dictates its law without significant resistance from the law enforcement forces. Dorsainvil stressed that these armed groups would be close to merging in order to connect their territories and create a criminal corridor linking the West to Artibonite a scenario that would raise fears of a coordinated expansion of gang power over a large part of Haitian territory.
Faced with the rise of violence, the population of Verrettes lives in terror. Many people, according to agronomists, have taken refuge in the morns or fled to St Mark, desperately seeking to escape the abuses of the armed groups.
This possible coalition among these armed groups in the country raises concerns about increased security chaos and highlights the lack of effective State control in several rural and urban areas.
