Port-au-Prince, May 28, 2026.- The flights between Haiti and the Dominican Republic will officially resume on May 30, 2026, after more than two years of restrictions. The Dominican authorities are announcing a gradual and supervised reopening, with strict protocols for safety, health and migration control. The link will initially concern the Cap-Haïtien International Airport.
The Dominican Republic will officially reopen its airspace to flights from Haiti as of 30 May 2026. The announcement was made by the President of the Junta de Aviación Civil (JAC), Héctor Porcella, quoted by Listín Diario.
According to the Dominican authorities, this resumption of air links comes after several meetings between the institutions of the two countries and the resumption of bilateral dialogue between Dominican Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez and his Haitian counterpart Raina Forbin.
As a first step, the operations will concern flights between Cap-Haitien and Dominican airports. The authorities state that the recovery will be carried out in a gradual manner in order to ensure passenger safety and compliance with the control measures.
Travellers from Haiti will have to complete a health form and submit to several administrative and migration checks before they enter Dominican territory. Monitoring and coordination protocols have also been established between the various Dominican State agencies.
Private flights, charter flights and humanitarian flights will also be permitted under certain conditions set by the Dominican Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Also according to Listín Diario, the Dominican authorities will gradually evaluate the possibility of extending air links to other Haitian airports, based on the results of the first protocols implemented.
This decision marks a new stage in relations between the two countries, particularly on trade, transport and bilateral cooperation issues.
