Port-au-Prince, May 30, 2026.- The Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, Marc-Elie Nelson, leads a Haitian tripartite delegation to the 114th session of the International Labour Conference, to be held from June 1 to 12, 2026 in Geneva, Switzerland. This global meeting organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO) will enable Haiti to defend its priorities in the areas of employment, decent work, social dialogue and gender equality.
The Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, Marc-Elie Nelson, represents Haiti at the 114th session of the International Labour Conference, one of the world's most important forums on employment and labour rights issues.
Organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO), the conference will bring together representatives of governments, employers and workers from many countries in Geneva to discuss the major challenges of the world of work.
The work will include a review of the ILO programme and budget, the implementation of international labour conventions, as well as several strategic issues, including decent work in the digital platform economy, the promotion of gender equality and the strengthening of social dialogue.
Participants will also discuss normative issues related to international labour standards.
Planned to intervene on June 2, Minister Marc-Elie Nelson will present the labour market situation in Haiti, as well as government initiatives to preserve jobs, improve working conditions and promote a more inclusive work environment.
Its intervention should also highlight efforts to strengthen social dialogue and promote equal opportunities in the world of work.
The Haitian delegation is composed of representatives of the Government, the employers' sector and workers' organizations, in accordance with the ILO tripartite model.
This participation reflects the will of the Haitian authorities to strengthen their presence in international forums and to focus the country's concerns on issues related to employment, social protection and economic development.
