Port-au-Prince, May 30, 2026.- The Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP) presented, on Thursday, May 28, the Framework of Reference for Education in Haiti during a workshop bringing together executives of the education system. This activity is part of the curriculum reform process, which is the review of curricula and content taught in schools. It was also marked by the establishment of several national commissions and ad hoc committees.

The MENFP brought together in Petion-Ville executives from the education system, including inspectors-general, coordinators, technical directors and representatives of the Department of Education of the West. The activity was devoted to the presentation of the Framework for Education in Haiti.

The document sets out the guidelines for the ongoing curricular reform. It provides for a revision of teaching content and an adaptation of teaching approaches to national realities and to developments in the international context. The Minister of National Education, Vijonet Déméro, referred to the constraints of its implementation, including the costs of infrastructure, training of educational staff and the availability of educational resources.

As part of this workshop, the Minister, accompanied by Director General Osny Jean Marie, set up three national commissions and two ad hoc committees. These structures cover curriculum, science, technology and innovation, academic and vocational guidance, the establishment of the Public University of the West (UPO), and the ethics of education research.

The establishment of these bodies aims to structure the institutional support for the curricular reform initiated by the MENFP. It directly concerns the revision of school curricula and teaching content in the Haitian educational system, as well as the organization of their implementation. This approach is part of a process of modernization of the education system, with the aim of adapting the school to national realities and contemporary training requirements.
