The Haitian authorities launched, Wednesday, May 6, 2026, the reconstruction work of the Consulate General of Haiti in Miami during an official ceremony marked by the presence of Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, Minister of Foreign Affairs Raina Forbin, as well as several representatives of the Haitian community living in Florida. The event brought together diplomatic actors and members of the diaspora around this initiative presented as a stage of modernization of the Haitian consular representation in the southern United States.
The future building is designed to consolidate several administrative and consular services in one space, while integrating infrastructure dedicated to cultural and official activities. According to the available information, the objective is to facilitate access to services for Haitian nationals and to improve the conditions for the reception and processing of cases within the diplomatic representation.
Forty years after the installation of the current consulate, the Haitian government intends, through this project, to consolidate its institutional presence with the diaspora in Miami and adapt its infrastructure to the current needs of a constantly changing community.
