Delmas, August 18, 2025.- Armed gangs seem determined to bring down Kenscoff. In an interview, the magistrate of the commune, Massillon Jean, returns to the genesis of the attacks and calls for unity of the Kenscovites to avoid the worst. After more than six months of violence, the gangs left behind a landscape of chaos and desolation: burning houses, homicides, looting, rape... this is the sad record of Kenscoff's attacks.
Invited to Le Point sur la Télévision Métropole, the magistrate reaffirmed his determination to prevent Kenscoff from sinking into anarchy, like so many other areas of the country. In order to achieve this, he pleaded for a collective mobilization of the population against the growing threat of armed gangs.
He points out that the loss of life is considerable: « It is almost impossible to count the dead, destroyed houses and ravaged gardens, because several sections occupied by bandits are totally inaccessible. » The authorities had to evacuate certain areas, further complicating the collection of information. However, a register has been set up to collect the testimonies of those who have lost or fail to find a relative.
In addition, the mayor claims to have hosted hundreds of internally displaced persons in sites set up by the town hall. However, due to the continuing threat to the city centre, these people were evacuated again, pending a return to security in areas occupied by gangs.
Finally, Massillon Jean asks: why Kenscoff? He stated that a complaint had been formally filed to demand justice on behalf of the victims of the commune, those who had been stripped of their property, murdered, abducted or raped.
