The French Lucas Philippe elected President of INTERPOL

Paris, 28 November 2025.- The French Institute of Security (IFS) announced on Thursday 27 November that the French police officer Lucas Philippe was elected President of INTERPOL for a four-year term. He will succeed Ahmed Naser al-Raisi (United Arab Emirates) in this honorary post, held alongside the organization's Secretary General, the Brazilian Valdecy Urquiza.

According to IFS, this new Presidency reflects a willingness to strengthen European cooperation, modernise investigative tools, improve organisational governance and better address emerging threats. It embodies, according to the Institute, a commitment to more effective and responsive international police cooperation.

Currently head of the International Affairs Centre in the Directorate-General of the National Police (DGPN), in France and delegate Europe to INTERPOL, Lucas Philippe would have been able to unite the Member States of the European Union around a joint application. He allegedly conducted a dialogue with the 196 member countries and obtained the required two-thirds majority in the vote, according to the same source.
