The American dream, the Haitian dream...

We are all seduced by the idea of the American dream; It's no longer a secret. A window behind which our eyes shine in front of images of happiness printed in our collective imagination. And we commit ourselves to trying everything to live in this giant eldorado. This attraction has long killed all the momentum of nationalism in Haiti. We no longer have dreams for this country; Our descent into hell for four decades is proof of this.

Like a quiet river, we follow the bed of our surrender to the ocean of humiliation and indifference. No moral dam, no dam of reason seems to contain this surge of fear, this wave of frustration towards other shores.

And yet Haiti was the dream, the coveted destination. It embodied freedom, respect and pride. His name resonated in hearts when one evoked bravery, resistance, exoticism, beauty, enchantment, well-being, paradise and self-determination.

How long have we stopped shining? How long has the dream turned into a nightmare?
Would it still be possible to dream and dream?
