Port-au-Prince, February 19, 2026.- The Ministry for Women's Affairs and Women's Rights (MCFDF) launched a three-day inter-institutional workshop on Thursday 19 February, organized under the patronage of the Primature, to strengthen national coordination and improve the effectiveness of the multidisciplinary care of surviving women and girls, mobilizing public institutions, international partners and women's organizations around a more structured, faster and coherent state response.
The opening ceremony brought together representatives of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP), the Ministry of Public Health and Population, the Office for the Protection of the Citizen (OPC), as well as United Nations agencies such as UN Women, UNFPA and UNICEF. Speakers stressed the need for a multisectoral approach integrating health, justice, public security, social action and humanitarian support. Several partners have renewed their technical and financial commitment to support the Department's reforms.
At the heart of the work are the harmonization of intervention protocols, the strengthening of the capacities of actors on the ground, the structuring of an inter-institutional support unit and the revitalisation of existing arrangements, including the Women's Houses and the free listening line 8919. Panels organized during the first day provided an opportunity to discuss national and international legal frameworks on women's rights, the typology of gender-based violence and mechanisms for registering and monitoring cases.
Through these foundations, the MCFDF intends to lay the foundations for a more coordinated and accessible national protection system. The authorities rely on concrete and applicable recommendations for the sustainable improvement of the care of survivors, in a context marked by the worsening of violence and the weakening of public services.
