Port-au-Prince, March 20, 2026.- At the initiative of the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH), the first edition of the National Engineering in Financial Education (GNEF), organized on March 19, 2026 at the Karibe Convention Center, highlighted the growing commitment of young Haitians to economic issues. The Lycée Toussaint Louverture and the Institut des hautes études commerciales et économiques won an intense competition, organised as part of the Global Money Week 2026.

Beyond the results, the first edition of the National Engineering in Financial Education (GNEF) marks a turning point in how to approach economic education in Haiti. By bringing together 21 schools and universities, the Bank of the Republic of Haiti wanted to go beyond the traditional academic framework to make finance a concrete tool for citizen training.

A practical educational strategy

Far from just a knowledge competition, the GNEF is part of a gradual educational approach. Even before the competition, participants took intensive training on key topics: personal finance, entrepreneurship, digital citizenship and monetary security.

This approach allowed students to develop practical skills, often absent from classical curricula. Budget management, understanding banking mechanisms and responsible use of digital tools: all the knowledge that can be directly mobilized in everyday life.

A committed and competitive youth

The strong mobilization observed during this edition reflects a growing interest of young people in economic issues. In the school category, Lycée Toussaint Louverture illustrated this dynamic by imposing at the end of a demanding course, concluded by a haletante finale in front of the Private Mixed Courses Saint-Léonard.

The same is true in the academic category, where the Institute of Advanced Business and Economic Studies distinguished itself by its rigor and mastery of economic concepts, until it won the victory over the Technical Centre for Planning and Applied Economics (CTPEA).

These performances reflect not only a good level of preparation, but also a strong desire to appropriate the tools for understanding the economic world.

Financial education as a lever for development

Through GNEF, the Bank of the Republic of Haiti pursues a strategic objective: to strengthen the financial culture of young people in order to promote better economic inclusion.

In a context marked by many socio-economic challenges, mastering basic concepts in finance becomes a major issue. Understanding savings, digital payments or credit mechanisms allows young people to better anticipate risks and make informed decisions.

By integrating these themes into a competitive and interactive dynamic, HRB manages to capture the attention of a generation often far removed from traditional institutional discourse.

An initiative in an international dynamic

The GNEF is part of the Global Money Week 2026, a global campaign dedicated to raising young people's awareness of financial management. By aligning with this initiative, Haiti strengthens its participation in international efforts to promote economic education as a pillar of sustainable development.
