Cayes, 25 November 2025.- On Monday, 24 November 2025, the Court of Appeal of Les Cayes set up Mr. Elioth Pierre Paul as the Deputy Commissioner of the Government. In his speech, the magistrate announced a course of action based on rigorous, consistent and integrity-driven justice.
In front of a section of magistrates and guests, Mr. Peter Paul delivered an unequivocal profession of faith. He reaffirmed his will to remain « a model magistrate »reiterating its categorical rejection of any influence or attempt at corruption. He stressed that his commitment to the Great South remains intact, promising to serve the region with the same firmness and sense of duty as in the past.
The new Substitute also highlighted a concept of justice that focused on protecting citizens' rights. He undertook to « ensuring that each person is entitled to his or her rights »while recalling that its action will remain oriented towards collective well-being. Inviting his peers in the Court to adopt the same stance, he stressed that « justice only when it is above suspicion ».
With this installation, the Cayes Court of Appeal welcomes a magistrate who places integrity at the heart of his mandate. It remains to be seen how this guideline will translate into the daily lives of an institution facing many challenges.
