Pétion-Ville, December 2, 2025.- On Monday 1 December, the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP) launched a three-day workshop in Petion-Ville on the restitution of the preliminary results of the National Survey on Preschooling, conducted from 19 May to 30 June 2025 in 480 centres throughout the country.
The aim of the study is to establish a complete diagnosis of the preschool sub-sector. The workshop brings together technicians from MENFP, Department of Education, technical and financial partners, as well as various social actors involved in early childhood education.
In opening the session, Minister Augustin Antoine welcomed a work conducted for more than ten months with the support of UNICEF, Spanish Cooperation and expert Alain Mingat. He stressed that the data confirm the crucial role of preschool in success and reaffirmed the State's commitment to ensuring equal opportunities in early childhood.
UNICEF representative Geetanjali Narayan said that the results were a key step towards developing a national pre-school policy based on reliable data, calling for increased engagement of partners. For his part, the Spanish Ambassador, Marco Peñín, recalled the strategic importance of preschool in the overall development of children and their transition to basic school, especially in a multilingual context.
The survey examines several aspects of the operation of the centres, including infrastructure, safety, nutrition, the quality of pedagogical guidance, training of teachers, language use and funding. The last day of the workshop will be devoted to the analysis of investment scenarios aimed at strengthening the preschool subsector on a sustainable basis.
