Port-au-Prince, December 2, 2025.- The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Albert Ramdin, made an official visit to Haiti on December 2 and 3, 2025. After a stage in Cap-Haitien, he must hold in Port-au-Prince a series of meetings with the Presidential Council of Transition (CPT), the government, international partners and several institutional actors, around security issues and the electoral process.
On Tuesday, at the Villa d'Accommodation, the CPT received the OAS delegation led by Albert Ramdin, accompanied in particular by his Chief of Staff Xaviera Jessurun, the Ambassador of Haiti to the OAS, Jean Josué Dahomey Pierre, as well as senior officials of the organization. The discussions focused on governance, institutional stability and preparations for the upcoming elections, with particular emphasis on the need to restore national security.
The OAS delegation also requested the CPT's position on the road map to be adopted to consolidate peace, strengthen institutions and restore democratic order with the support of the regional and international community. The expiry of the CPT's mandate of 7 February 2026 was identified as a key moment in the political transition.
As part of this mission, Albert Ramdin will meet with the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Haiti and Head of UNIH, Carlos Ruiz Massieu, as well as representatives of civil society.
The purpose of the visit is to promote better coordination between national and international actors in order to create the conditions for a sustainable stabilisation of the country and a return to constitutional order through credible and secure elections.
