Port-au-Prince, August 19, 2025.- The former Minister and leader of the Reform Louverturian Force, Emmanuel Ménard, categorically rejected rumours associated with a possible position as Prime Minister alongside the Transitional Presidential Council (CPT). In a public statement, he denounced a « malicious propaganda » and claimed not to have « Never had any contact » with the governing body, while pointing to the bankruptcy of the current governance model.
A firm focus
Mr. Ménard ensures that he has « nothing negotiated with the CPT » and rejects the idea of a ministerial cabinet supposedly prepared by him. He stresses that he does not seek to rule out the current Prime Minister Didier Son-Aimé, saying that he does not act « under the coat ».
Referring to the meeting held on 11 March 2024 under the auspices of CARICOM, Ménard recalled that he had challenged the formula of a nine-member collegiate presidency, which he considered to have failed today: « We all lost because the country has become more exsanguous. »
He signed the Joint Declaration of Kingston (Jamaica) in June 2023, alongside several political parties and platforms, denouncing the total control of the nine CPT representatives over the Executive and regretting the lack of counter-powers.
For Ménard, the current power, whether that of Ariel Henry or the CPT/Conille-Fils-Aimé tandem, leads to the same failure: « It is definitely the end, end of mandate, of reputation, of career but also of political nuisance. » He claims that no election or referendum can be held until 2026, but believes that the CPT can still facilitate a peaceful transition by involving the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ) and national forces.
Finally, he said he was ready to commit « Patriotically, with weapons and luggage » on behalf of the Middle Bloc, the National Coalition and the Reform Force, provided that the solution is inclusive and sustainable.
