Port-au-Prince, September 9, 2025.- During his participation in distanciel, this Tuesday, at a high-level meeting of the UN Security Council, the Haitian Prime Minister, Alix Didier Fils Aimé, expressed his government's strong support for the transformation of the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS) into a strategic force, capable of leading an intensive and targeted fight against armed groups that destabilize the country.
Given the gravity of the security crisis, the Head of Government stressed that this transformation is essential to create the necessary conditions for the rapid organization of democratic elections and the strengthening of public institutions.
The Haitian Government reaffirmed its commitment to international cooperation and thanked the Security Council for its attention and support. He hoped that the speedy adoption of that resolution would demonstrate the will of the international community to help Haiti achieve security, peace and democracy.
Alix Didier Son Aimé insisted that security is the key to restoring institutional stability, reviving the economy and ensuring free, credible and transparent elections.
He renewed Haiti's full support for the transformation of the MSS into a force with a strengthened mandate capable of neutralizing armed groups and protecting the population.
This resolution is being carried by the United States and Panama. It provides for the establishment of a multinational force of 5,550 members, with the authorization to arrest gang members in order to curb the escalation of the violence that ravages the country.
