Cap-Haitien, September 9, 2025.- In the North, the departmental delegate Marc Présumé and the departmental director of education, Fritz Timo, proceeded on Monday, 8 September, to the closure of the establishments which opened before the official date of 1 October.
Several schools have anticipated the date of school renewal despite instructions from the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP). The local authorities imposed their immediate closure in order to recall that the State decision concerns all establishments.
Marc Présumé recalled that all institutions, public or private, must comply with national regulations. « Even if a school is affiliated with France, the United States or Canada, it must respect the decision of the Haitian state », he said. For his part, Fritz Timo stressed that the aim is to maintain the uniformity of the school calendar and ensure equality between students.
This intervention confirms the willingness of the northern authorities to enforce the educational sovereignty of the State. It remains to be seen whether the same rigour will be applied in other departments of the country.
