Haitian Voice in Long Island, New York: Epaphras Gibbs calls for action for migrant families

New York, November 28, 2025.- In the Suffolk County legislature, on Thursday, November 27, the young Haitian leader Epaphras Gibbs marked the minds by addressing elected officials, police and community actors. After paying tribute to the veterans and welcoming the commitment of the legislators, he pleaded with conviction for better integration of immigrants and increased support for Haitian families, considering that their inclusion is essential to the prosperity and unity of the county.

Highlighting the challenges faced by migrant families, including those who arrived through the humanitarian programme « Word »Epaphras Gibbs stressed the importance of effective schooling of young people through the ESL and bilingual programmes, as well as the creation of educational bridges allowing young Haitians and other immigrants to continue their studies without obstacles.

Finally, addressing the issue of housing and occupational integration, he called for an expansion of rental aid and for mentoring, leadership and vocational training programmes to facilitate the integration of young people into the labour market. His speech, welcomed by the audience, paved the way for further legislative discussions on education and integration, confirming his influential leadership role in the Haitian community of Long Island.
