Cap-Haitien, August 2, 2025. - At the closing of the Forum on the Reduction of Community Violence in Cap-Haitien, on July 31, 2025, Councillor President Laurent Saint-Cyr issued a strong call for a renewed commitment from the private sector. According to him, security and stability are essential conditions for reviving the Haitian economy and building a common future.
Meeting in Cap-Haïtien, Head of the Northern Department, for the closing of the Forum of engagement of the private sector in the fight against community violence, Laurent Saint-Cyr, Councillor President and future coordinator of the Presidential Council of Transition (CPT), welcomed the mobilization of chambers of commerce, public institutions and international partners around a common goal: to reduce violence in Haiti sustainably.
In his speech, Mr. Saint-Cyr said that « It does not create wealth in fear » and that « instability cannot serve as a foundation for a sustainable future ». For him, only joint action between the State and the private sector can restore security, encourage investment and promote stable value chains for the benefit of all citizens.
He also stressed the need for concrete engagement by the private sector, not through speeches but through actions: « Engaging for peace, social justice, an economy for life and the collective interest », he said.
Laurent Saint-Cyr also renewed his willingness to work constructively with the Transitional Presidential Council, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, and his government, from the beginning of its coordination scheduled for 7 August. Three priorities are at the heart of its agenda: security, elections and economic recovery.
On the margins of the event, he exchanged with the public, reiterating his support for creating opportunities for young people and women, and inclusive development. « The country can't wait any longer. Let's roll up our sleeves. Let's get to work now! », he threw under applause.
The Forum is part of the process of co-construction of the National Action Plan on Disarmament, Dismantlement, Reintegration and Reduction of Community Violence (DDR-RVC), with support from the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MCI), CCIH and the United Nations system.
