SMEs and economic recovery : CEDEL Haiti relies on entrepreneurship despite the crisis

CEO of CEDEL Haiti, Rock André

Cap-Haitien, December 12, 2025.- The Forum of Entrepreneurship of CEDEL Haiti held its 11th edition from 3 to 5 December 2025 in Cap-Haitien, in the north of the country. Despite a difficult national context, the event brought together nearly 200 participants and confirmed the vitality of innovation among young Haitian entrepreneurs.

On December 11, 2025, on the air of Magik 9, Rock André, representative of CEDEL Haiti, and Yasmine Dumé, coordinator of the Entrepreneurship Forum, returned to this edition organized in hybrid format around the theme: « Small and medium-sized enterprises as pillars of economic recovery ».

According to Yasmine Dumé, all planned activities have been successfully carried out. About 10 exhibitors and about 200 participants, students, young entrepreneurs and professionals took part in the exchanges. Content focused on business management, understanding of the entrepreneurial ecosystem and the opportunities of the sector. The recordings are available on CEDEL platforms.

Rock André praised the entrepreneurial resilience of young Haitians. He believes that, despite the national crisis, creativity remains « alive », as demonstrated by the AgriPitch competition, which received 152 projects in just two days. Some focused on the processing of biodegradable products, while the winning project proposed natural juice production.

The Director of CEDEL also highlighted the strategic role that SMEs could play in difficult sectors such as tourism. He evokes several opportunities: the qualification of Haiti for the World Cup, the dynamism of the compass or the inclusion of Haitian know-how in the UNESCO World Heritage. For him, better support for SMEs is essential to stimulate an economy seeking recovery.
