Port-au-Prince, 10 September 2025.- The Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP) published the official results of the new Secondary IV for the Department of the West on Wednesday 10 September 2025. The success rate is 40.68 per cent, reflecting the difficulties encountered by students during the academic year.
This Wednesday, the MENFP published the results of the new Secondary IV for the Western Department. With a success rate of 40.68 per cent, these data highlight the fragility of the education system in the face of the security, social and institutional challenges that marked the year 2024-2025.
According to the official press release, this performance reflects both the perseverance of the candidates and the obstacles that hindered their learning. The school year was severely disrupted by the continuing insecurity in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince, repeated strikes by teachers, as well as social unrest that led to the prolonged closure of several schools.
These disruptions have reduced the actual teaching time, weakened the academic preparation of students and exacerbated the inequalities between those who have had a continuous pedagogical supervision and those who have been deprived of classes for long months.
The MENFP points out, however, that, despite these difficult conditions, thousands of young people have been able to take this decisive step, proof of their determination and commitment by some teachers and families.
The success rate of 40.68 per cent in the West illustrates the structural challenges facing the Haitian education system. It highlights the urgent need for remedial measures to ensure better academic stability, ensure equitable access to training and strengthen the resilience of schools to recurrent crises.
