Washington, 10 September 2025.- The Director General of the Anti-Corruption Unit (ULCC), Jacques Hans Ludwig Joseph, represented Haiti as a senior expert at a high-level meeting on Monday, 8 September, at the headquarters of the Organization of American States (OAS), in Washington, D.C., United States. Discussions focused on strengthening the Monitoring Mechanism of the Inter-American Convention against Corruption, with particular emphasis on the integration of artificial intelligence as a tool for prevention and repression.

In a publication on his X account, Jacques Hans Ludwig Joseph stressed the importance of this regional meeting, bringing together the anti-corruption authorities of member countries. According to him, AI represents a strategic lever to improve transparency, detect irregularities more effectively and strengthen international cooperation in the fight against this scourge.

The participation of the ULCC in this meeting reflects Haiti's commitment to align with regional initiatives and to modernize its own control and prevention mechanisms, in a context where corruption remains a major challenge for the country's governance.

In Haiti, corruption has long been one of the scourges that gangrene the state, weaken its institutions and undermine citizens' confidence. Its effects are reflected in the mismanagement of public resources, the widening of social inequalities and the paralysis of reforms essential for national development.
