Port-au-Prince, 22 September 2025.- For three days, the Organisation of Citizens for a New Haiti (OCNH), in partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Civic Action (MJSAC), is organizing a series of training workshops for young people on non-violent communication, the development of positive messages and the use of digital platforms to promote peace.
In an environment dominated by persistent social and political tensions, this initiative aims to provide young people with practical tools to strengthen their capacities for dialogue, conflict management and the promotion of a culture of peace.
The first day was devoted to the principles of non-violent communication and methods of managing and resolving conflicts peacefully. Mr. Camille Occius, Executive Director of OCNH, stressed the importance of this training cycle. « At the end of these three days, young people will be able to build what we call messages for peace », he said.
Michelson Charlotin, Director of Youth and Integration at the Ministry, presented the initiative as a major milestone in the government's youth strategy. « It is an achievement that meets the goal of accompanying young people in building messages for peace », he said.
Beyond the theoretical contributions, the workshops focus on the use of digital tools and social networks as tools for disseminating positive and constructive discourse. An approach considered essential at a time when digital platforms focus on debates, tensions and confrontations of opinion.
These workshops reflect a joint commitment to make youth a central player in promoting peace and living together. By strengthening their skills in communication and peaceful conflict resolution, the young participants are called upon to become carriers of alternative discourse that can help transform social dynamics in Haiti.
