Port-au-prince, 23 June 2025. Starting August 5 of the current year, the clearance of used motor vehicles in Haiti will be subject to the submission of a certificate of conformity issued by the exporting country. In addition, as of December 9, 2025, several product categories, including home appliances and computer equipment, will also have to meet this requirement. These measures are aimed at ensuring public safety and protecting the environment.

As part of the implementation of the Decree of 11 March 2020, which has as its objectives the security of goods and services, the loyalty of economic transactions and the protection of the consumer, the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MCI) announces significant changes concerning the clearance of imports.

As of August 5, 2025, all importers of used motor vehicles will be required to submit a certificate of compliance. This document will be issued by the exporting country and is intended to ensure that these vehicles meet the applicable safety and environmental standards. MCI has designated the firm « EAA Company Limited » as the official provider in charge of providing these certificates.

In addition to this measure, the MCI also informs that, as from 9 December 2025, the clearance of other categories of products will be subject to the presentation of a certificate of conformity. This includes household appliances, electrical and electronic appliances and devices, telecommunications devices, computer equipment, audiovisual products, solar panels, luminaires, textile toys, construction materials and automotive parts.

For this initiative, the accredited body is the « World Standardization, Certification & Testing Group (WSCT) »which will be responsible for issuing the necessary certificates for these various categories of products.

These measures are implemented in order to protect health and public safety, but also to ensure the preservation of the Haitian environment. By strengthening import control, the MCI wants to ensure that only compliant and safe products enter the Haitian market.
