Pétion-ville, May 16, 2026.- Faced with the growing unemployment of young graduates and the persistent challenges of access to drinking water in Haiti, DINEPA launched, on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at the Karibe Hotel & Convention Center, its Performance Internship Programme 2026. Through this initiative, 120 graduates and young graduates will benefit from professional experience aimed at building the capacity of the Potable Water and Sanitation (EPA) sector.
This programme aims to create a genuine bridge between universities and public institutions in order to facilitate the vocational integration of young people while supporting a strategic sector for national development. The selected trainees come from several universities and vocational schools across the country and will develop in various technical and administrative fields related to drinking water and sanitation.
The launch ceremony was attended by public officials, technical and financial partners and institutional actors involved in the development of the EPA sector. The programme is supported, inter alia, by UNICEF, the Inter-American Development Bank, Spanish Cooperation and the ETC-RMPP.
In his speech, the Director General of DINEPA, Théophile Ostinvil, stressed the need to develop the skills of young people in order to meet the country's public health, environmental protection and economic growth challenges. He recalled that drinking water and sanitation are essential levers for the sustainable development of Haiti.
The EPA 2026 Internship Programme covers several areas of expertise, including civil engineering, hydraulics, the environment, electromechanical, computer science, statistics, human resources, legal science, contracting, plumbing, electricity and water quality control.
Through this initiative, DINEPA confirms its willingness to train a new generation of qualified professionals capable of supporting reforms and responding to the challenges of access to essential services in Haiti.
