Port-au-Prince, August 29, 2025.- The Centre for the Promotion of Democracy and Participative Education (CPDEP) has completed the 8th edition of its Summer School of Governance. Placed under the theme « Electoral governance », this initiative brought together some 30 young people, selected from over 200 registered, around reflections on transparency and the electoral system in Haiti
Under the leadership of Sperancia Moïse Guilbeaud Saint-Cyr, Executive Director of CPDEP, the Summer School of Governance has established itself as a space for citizen education and debate for young people aged 15 to 25. This initiative is part of the Governance Support Programme (GSP) and was attended by several public and private sector personalities and the international community.
For several years, CPDEP has been expanding its activities in more than 70 municipalities across the country, with initiatives ranging from lecture-debate to secondary 1 to secondary 4 training. The objective is to help young people better understand the functioning of the State and its civic responsibilities.
For this edition, participants, mostly academics, addressed crucial topics such as electoral transparency, election observation and the training of polling officers. The large number of applications received (more than 200 for only 30 places) reflects the commitment of young people to engage in democratic governance and participate in building a more inclusive future.
At the end of this edition, CPDEP recalled its mission: to promote a democratic culture through education, training and active participation of young people. By focusing on youth, the institution intends to sustainably strengthen electoral governance and help restore confidence in the Haitian democratic system.
