IMB initiates budget consultation in West to prepare new strategic plan

Port-au-Prince, May 4, 2026.- As part of the preparation of its strategic framework 2026-2029, the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI) proceeded, on Monday, May 4, to launch the budgetary management dialogue for the department of the West. This approach seeks to collect the needs and constraints of decentralized structures in order to strengthen planning, administrative efficiency and management of public resources.

The purpose of this dialogue is to collect data necessary for the identification of IMB priorities for the next three years. In line with strategic plan 2023-2026, focusing on institutional capacity building, the focus is on improving human, material and financial resources management. Within six months of the end of the current plan, the exercise is also used to take stock of the actions undertaken and identify gaps to be addressed.

The central and territorial directorates are called upon to explain the constraints encountered in carrying out tax missions. The discussions focus on technical difficulties, lack of qualified staff, equipment deficiencies and budget constraints. These discussions should lead to concrete proposals to increase the efficiency of the tax administration and its ability to mobilize public revenues.

By opening this area of consultation, the DGI is starting an important strategic adjustment phase. The recommendations resulting from these exchanges should not only guide the budgetary and administrative planning of the institution, but also strengthen its capacity to respond effectively to the challenges of modernizing and mobilizing public revenues in the coming years.
