Delmas, September 20, 2025.- On the occasion of World Cleaning Day, SEKO-Cleans gathered, on September 20, 2025, in the premises of Banj Media, economists, experts and citizens to discuss the role of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the circular economy and waste management in Haiti.

The company SEKO-Cleans, specializing in professional cleaning, sanitation and the production of environmentally friendly liquid soaps, organised a thematic forum to highlight the importance of SMEs in the transformation of waste into resources and in the promotion of a cleaner environment. The event, held at Banj Media in Delmas 66, brought together economists, professors, students, journalists and civil society actors.

Two panels were moderated by key stakeholders: Vladimir Leveillé, Director of Studies and Economic Intelligence at CFI; Antoine Pierre, UNDP representative; and Professor Jameson Duperval of Haiti Climate.

The discussions highlighted the ability of SMEs to contribute to the circular economy through their proximity to the public and their ability to transform plastic waste into useful or artisanal products. Speakers also highlighted the major challenges faced by these companies, including limited access to finance and lack of institutional support.

A young local entrepreneur presented an innovative community waste collection project in Delmas, encouraging residents to sort their plastics in exchange for symbolic compensation. He called on the town hall to strengthen this initiative through logistical and organizational support.

The forum concluded with a clear message: cooperation between institutions, businesses and citizens is essential to build a cleaner, greener and more sustainable Haiti. SMEs appear to be a strategic link in waste management and the development of an efficient circular economy.
