Port-au-Prince, June 25, 2026.- The Haitian government announces that it has ensured the continuity of the services of the General Customs Administration (AGD) and the continuation of reforms designed to modernize the institution. In a context marked by the demands of several customs officials, the authorities claim to be working on durable solutions to improve the working conditions of staff and to improve the efficiency of the customs administration.
In a communiqué signed by the Secretary of State for Communication, Jean Willio Patrick Crispin and published on 25 June, the government wanted to reassure users about the normal functioning of customs services throughout the country.
The authorities recall that the General Customs Administration plays a strategic role in controlling trade, monitoring the national territory and mobilizing public revenues. These resources remain essential for the financing of State services and the implementation of public policies.
While inviting DMA employees to continue their activities in a climate of responsibility and discipline, the Government recognizes the legitimacy of the concerns expressed by officers regarding their working conditions, benefits and pension rights.
According to the press release, consultations are under way to identify appropriate solutions to staff claims. An in-depth analysis of the situation has already been carried out to enable a rapid and lasting response to the difficulties raised.
At the same time, the executive is pursuing a major reform process aimed at improving administrative coordination, modernizing management mechanisms and harmonizing internal procedures. The aim is to make the institution more efficient, transparent and effective.
Finally, the Government reaffirms its commitment to strengthen and modernize the customs administration while giving priority to dialogue between the management of the AMD and employees in order to achieve concerted solutions to the current challenges.
