Port-au-Prince, 24 September 2025.- In just two days at the head of the General Administration of Customs, the new Director-General, Gérald Ramblais, supervised operations that resulted in the seizure of eight trucks of goods, parts of weapons transformed into assault rifles and pistols, as well as nearly 4,000 fake badges of the National Police of Haiti (PNH).
On the evening of Monday, 22 September, the Anti-Fraud and Smuggling Brigade intercepted four trucks in Terrier-Rouge, North East Department, loaded with undeclared goods. These vehicles remain awaiting verification. The next day, Tuesday, 23 September, four other trucks from Belle-Anse, South-East Department, were stopped at the Friendship Crossroad and then transferred to the Brache post.
At the same time, in a meade near the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ) in Clercine, Tabarre commune, weapons pieces were discovered. After being assembled by a PNH technician, they revealed an assault rifle and a complete pistol. This checkpoint was immediately closed.
In addition, in another area, near Toussaint Louverture International Airport, approximately 4,000 badges on behalf of various HNP units were found. The DG also ordered the closure of this position.
Investigations were initiated to determine the origin of these shipments and to identify those responsible, Ramplais confirmed.
