Petion-ville, September 12, 2025.- Two young girls, Leconte Falande and Leconte Fanela Malia, were abducted on the evening of Wednesday, September 10, in Laboule 12, Petion-Ville commune. The news has been reported by several press professionals, including journalist Luckson Saint-vil on his page, while armed groups are multiplying speeches about a so-called "peace" in the capital.

Abductions have been increasing in Port-au-Prince in recent days. After several cases reported to Delmas 33 and Delmas 75, the phenomenon resurfaced in Laboule 12. Two sisters, aged 17 and 16, are the new victims.

According to testimonies, four heavily armed individuals entered the family home on Wednesday night before kidnapping the two girls. It was Leconte Falande, 17, who had just completed high school, and his younger sister, Leconte Fanela Malia, 16, who was a NS4 student. The kidnappers demand a ransom of $1 million. The family, claiming that it does not have the necessary financial resources, calls for understanding and a gesture of humanity.

The abduction took place while several armed groups, grouped under the banner « Viv Ansanm »hold speeches on the need to bring peace to the capital. Yet, the reality on the ground reveals a multiplication of kidnapping cases in recent weeks. While some victims were released in Delmas 33 and Delmas 75, the threat remains.

The abduction in Laboule 12 illustrated the forced return of kidnapping as a major phenomenon of insecurity. While calls for peace follow, acts of violence continue to sow fear and desolation in Haitian families. Society is waiting for concrete answers from the CPT and the government to stop this spiral.
