Port-au-Prince, July 15, 2025.- Invited to the show Panel Magik this Tuesday, Clarens Renois, leader of the National Union for Integrity and Reconciliation (UNIR) party, warned against the dangers of an institutional vacuum after the end of the mandate of the Presidential Transition Council (CPT), scheduled for February 7, 2026. It calls for the anticipation of this deadline by developing a consensual alternative to prevent the country from falling into instability and disorder.

The former presidential candidate denounces the priority given by the authorities to organising a constitutional referendum, while the security of the population remains precarious. For Renois, no referendum can be legitimate without massive popular participation, made impossible by the current context. He states that: « First, we must protect life, ensure the security of the population before any major reform takes place. ».

Clarens Renois also questions the legitimacy of the CPT to lead such a process. It considers that the Council has neither the credibility nor the conditions necessary for constitutional reform. In his view, only an inclusive national conference could have laid the foundation for such a project, but it remains unrealizable because of widespread insecurity.

It describes the CPT's approach as « waste »denouncing a unilateral, opaque and costly process, without prospects for success. Renois sees behind the fierceness to hold the referendum a « political coup » to avoid recognizing the failure of the CPT in managing the national crisis.

Finally, Clarens Renois calls on the nation's living forces to find a consensual, inclusive and credible formula before February 7, 2026. He pointed out that this alternative could include the CPT, provided that the whole was based on genuine national consultation.
