In Cap-Haitien, Dr. Bertrhude Albert, ambassador of the city and co-founder of P4H Global, accompanied by his father, Pastor Isaac Albert, distributed 30,000 US dollars in emergency aid to merchant victims of the fire that ravaged the Cluny market. The initiative, made possible in less than two weeks, mobilized more than 275 donors, mainly from the Haitian diaspora.
According to information provided by the Fort Liberté city page, the transaction allowed 70 merchants to receive $400 each, for a total of $28,000 paid directly to the most affected people. In addition, two fire departments in the city will receive a total of $2,000 to support their interventions and logistical needs.
According to Dr.Albert, this rapid mobilization testifies to the active solidarity of the diaspora and friends of Haiti around the world. « We are far in the distance, but not far in destiny », she said, stressing the collective momentum that helped raise funds in record time.
The initiative was conducted in close collaboration with Mayor Angie Bell and her team, who played a key role in identifying beneficiaries and facilitating the process. Thirty merchants were selected by the city council, thirty others verified by the P4H Global team on the ground, and ten additional integrated after the virtualization of their testimonies on social networks. An approach based on transparency and fairness, while Cap-Haitien is trying to recover after this disaster.
