Port-au-Prince, 22 December 2025.- On the occasion of the 19th edition of Crafts in Feast, organized on December 20 and 21, in Pétion-Ville, the Haitian state, international partners and the diaspora reaffirmed their commitment to the structuring and enhancement of the craft sector, presented as a pillar of the creative economy and economic autonomy.

Present on the first day, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour (MAST), through the National Arts Office (ONART), unveiled several projects aimed at strengthening the sector, including the extension of craft shops, the grant of production workshops and the creation of a portfolio of products. For Minister Georges Wilbert Franck, the craft industry deserves more investment in order to promote sustainable income creation.

Director Angeline Jean-Louis, Director of the ONART, announced the upcoming establishment of a digital marketing site, which will also serve as a database for artisans. The project includes training programmes aimed at restoring works, preventing their degradation and standardizing products for export.

Invited to the event, the Taiwanese Ambassador, Cheng-hao Hu, praised the resilience of Haitian artisans and renewed his country's constant support to Celebrate Crafts since 2007, highlighting the progress observed despite a difficult security context.

For her part, the Minister of Haitians living abroad, Kathia Verdier, paid tribute to the artisans who promote Haitian culture at the local and international level. She also highlighted major advances in her ministry, including the adoption of her framework law and the recent launch of the project to map the Haitian diaspora.
