Berlin, 22 December 2025.- Germany has strengthened its support for the Gang Repression Force (GRF) in Haiti, announcing an additional contribution of $35 million. According to journalist Nancy Roc, this amount adds to previous aid, bringing Berlin's total support for this mission supported by the United Nations (UN) to $46 million.
This funding, transited through the United Nations Trust Fund, aims to support the efforts of the Haitian authorities in combating the grip of armed gangs that control several areas of the country.
With this new envelope, Germany becomes the second largest contributor to the international scheme, just behind the United States.
In addition, the initial strength of the Gang Repression Force was 5,500. However, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently stated that he had received commitments from several countries, bringing the total number of soldiers promised to 7,500. « We have also seen a significant increase in financial contributions, far exceeding the targets set. », he said.
The FRG should be deployed at the beginning of 2026, with the aim of strengthening the Haitian National Police and participating actively in the restoration of peace in the country.
