The U.S. Department of State announced, in a note published on August 28, 2025, that Haitian applicants for residence visas (immigrants) will now have to travel to the U.S. Embassy in Nassau, Bahamas, to finalize their procedures.
This decision, which will enter into force on November 1, 2025, follows the partial or total suspension of consular services in Haiti. Only a few urgent or exceptional cases (for medical, humanitarian or political reasons) can be dealt with locally.
Appointments already confirmed remain valid unless otherwise indicated. This is part of a broader reorganization that affects 16 countries affected by consular disruption. U.S. authorities recommend that applicants monitor updates on official platforms.
