Attempted eviction from ULCC and AGT: ECC sounds alarm bell

Port-au-Prince, August 12, 2025.- While discussions are under way on possible reorganization within the administration, several government officials are threatened with revocation. According to Edward Paultre, Executive Secretary of the Ensemble contre la corruption (ECC), the Directors General of the Anti-Corruption Unit (ULCC), Mr. Hans Jacques Ludwing Joseph, and of the General Administration of Customs (AGD), Julcène Édouard, would be particularly targeted.

Mr. Edouard Paultre, denounces a maneuver orchestrated by three influential members of the Transitional Presidential Council (CPT) involved in a corruption scandal linked to the National Credit Bank (BNC).

Speaker, this Tuesday, August 12, on Magik 9, Mr.Paultre pointed the finger at Louis Gérald Gilles, Emmanuel Vertilaire and Smith Augustin, whom he accuses of acting in the shadow to get rid of the two responsible, in order to protect their interests.

He called on the CPT coordinator, Laurent Saint-Cyr, to block this initiative, which he considered dangerous for institutional balance and the fight against corruption. « It is not necessary to allow persons involved in corruption cases to influence the decisions of the State. »he warned.

Paultre also warns about the risk of a gradual takeover of the state apparatus by a majority within the CPT, with the support of a private sector very present in the current workings of power. He urged the authorities to be vigilant in order to avoid drifting away from the serious consequences for the governance of the country.
