Vocational integration: 263 young people launch the first cohort of the PIJE programme

Petion-ville, August 12, 2025.-The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) launched, on Tuesday, August 12, at the Karibe Hotel, the Youth Employment Initiative (YEIP). This first cohort of 263 trainees, selected from 600 candidates, will integrate public and private companies for three months of paid internship, with the possibility of hiring.

Designed to facilitate the access of young graduates to the labour market and support economic recovery, PIJE offers its participants state-paid work placements. The first promotion, consisting of young people from universities and public and private polytechnic schools, will be deployed from 18 to 31 October, with assignments in various sectors.

In his occasional speech, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr Alfred Fils Métellus, admits that this initiative is part of the government's strategy for the professional integration of young people and the revitalization of the national economy. The programme, restructured by the MEF in 2024 and relaunched by Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé via Circular 008 of 28 March 2025, is now included in the amending budget 2024-2025.

The launch ceremony, which brought together heads of educational institutions, members of the government and Councillor-President Leslie Voltaire, concluded with the official delivery of letters of assignment to 263 trainees. By mid-August, these young people will live their first immersion in the professional world, with the hope of obtaining a sustainable job.
