Cap-Haitien, November 22, 2025.- The Town Hall of Cap-Haitien received, Friday, 21 November, significant financial support from the Republic of China (Taiwan) to launch a sanitation and training project dedicated to women in vulnerable neighbourhoods. An initiative welcomed by the local authorities as a strategic step towards urban cleanliness, public health and economic autonomy.
The Municipal Commission of Cap-Haïtien formalized the reception of Taiwanese financial support during a ceremony held at the Diplomatic Salon of the Town Hall. Several authorities, including Taiwanese Ambassador Cheng-hao Hu and Northern Departmental Delegate Marc Présumé, honoured the event with their presence, demonstrating the importance of the partnership.
A double impact project: sanitation and empowerment
According to Mayor Angeline Bell, this funding will help implement a program structured around two key priorities: improving urban cleanliness and strengthening the economic capacities of women from disadvantaged areas. A project that is part of a vision of sustainable and inclusive development for the city.
In his speech, Ambassador Cheng-hao Hu recalled Taiwan's continued engagement with Haiti. He stressed that this support reflects his country's conviction that « without inclusive social development, there can be no lasting stability ». A strong statement, in the continuity of ever-consolidating cooperation.
For the Northern Departmental Delegate, Marc Présumé, this project is an essential tool to improve public health, create economic opportunities and restore the dignity of women beneficiaries. He encouraged the continuation of tripartite initiatives bringing together Taiwan, the Haitian state and the Town Hall.
The Municipal Commission of Cap-Haitien expressed its gratitude to Taiwan and reaffirmed its commitment to managing the funds rigorously and transparently. The objective is to ensure a real, measurable and sustainable impact on targeted communities.
This support marks an important step forward in efforts to modernize the city, strengthen its living environment and create new opportunities for women. A diplomatic and social gesture that could pave the way for other structuring initiatives.
