Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for the 13th edition of the Law Fair

Pétion-Ville, September 20, 2025.- On Friday 19 September, the Office of Patrick Laurent and Associates signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the Montana Hotel with the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF), the Unit for Combating Corruption (ULCC), the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) and the École Sainte Trinité, in preparation for the 13th edition of the Salon du Droit, scheduled for 8 May 2026. The event also marked the launch of the 5th edition of the Law Fair Prize.

The 13th edition of the Fair of Law is already emerging as one of the major meetings of the legal calendar in Haiti. As part of the preparations, a memorandum of understanding was signed on Friday 19 September between the Cabinet Patrick Laurent and Associates and several partner institutions. This signature seals a multisectoral cooperation aimed at strengthening the quality and scope of the event, presented as the most important legal forum of the French-speaking Caribbean.

The protocol specifies the responsibilities of each partner: the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF) will ensure scientific coordination, the Holy Trinity School will be in charge of the protocol, while the ULCC will sponsor the 5th edition of the Law Fair Prize.

In his speech, Patrick Laurent, Chief Executive Officer Patrick Laurent and Associates, stressed that the Law Fair is « Haiti's largest legal event, the first in the French-speaking Caribbean and the second in French-speaking America after the Bar of Canada ». He paid tribute to the media accompanying the initiative. « Without a penny ».

For his part, the sponsor of the prize, Jacques Hans Ludwig Joseph, welcomed the return of the ULCC and congratulated the organizing team for its competence. For Pierrier Olivil, chairman of the commission, the Law Fair is above all « a forum for ideas and a training place for young people ».

Rev. Fr. Ricot Géffrard insisted on the promotion of civics and civic conscience, while MEF DG Jean Bouco Jean Jacques recalled that « transparency and integrity are the foundations of trust between the state and citizens ». Finally, Mr. Josué Beaubrun, DG of Jurist-Expert, said he was honoured to attend the « an event of such scope ».

The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding confirms the willingness of partner institutions to work in a spirit of collaboration and rigour to make the Law Fair a space for reflection, training and opportunities. Set for May 8, 2026, the 13th edition already announces as an essential event for the Haitian and regional legal world.
